Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Independently sets up and operates protoTRAK mills, lathes, saws, bending and pulltrusion operations.
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of machine tool technology.
  • Works with a wide variety of materials, selecting speeds, feeds, and tooling to efficiently machine any part assigned to this position.
  • Performs complete machining, deburring and cosmetic finishing of machined parts in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Performs layout and precision inspection utilizing knowledge of ANSI Y14.5M.
  • Documents methods and procedures for efficient setups on repeat jobs.
  • Utilizes the computer terminal to maintain accurate record keeping.
  • Participates in the safety program and contributes to a safe clean work environment.
  • Assists less skilled shop personnel with determining best methods to achieve desired results in a safe and timely manner.

  • Ability to read and comprehend shop travelers, written instructions and shop prints at the appropriate level.
  • Ability to follow verbal directions.
  • Ability to recognize and calculate figures and amounts such as fractional size, decimal equivalent, and diameter.
  • Ability to perform math problems including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to perform the required manual dexterity.
  • Ability to perform required visual inspection of parts.
  • Ability to perform computer data input to track attendance and time spent on work orders.
  • Ability to utilize precision measuring devices to inspect dimensions accurately within ± .0005 and angles ± .50.
