Saw Operator

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Independently sets up and operates precision saws to hold tolerances within ± .002 and performs angle cuts holding angle tolerances of ± .5' and perpendicular and parallelism cuts within .01
  • Maximize the use of raw stock and minimize the amount of scrap material.
  • Utilizes appropriate speeds and feeds for efficient saw cuts.
  • Replaces saw blades as needed.
  • Performs deburring and cosmetic finishing of material prep parts in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Utilizes the computer terminal to maintain accurate record keeping.
  • Participates in the safety program and contributes to a safe clean work environment.
  • May be assigned to assist other employees in the performance of their duties.

  • Ability to read and comprehend shop travelers, written instructions and shop prints at the appropriate level.
  • Ability to follow verbal directions.
  • Ability to recognize and calculate figures and amounts such as fractional size, decimal equivalent, and diameter.
  • Ability to perform simple math problems including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Ability to perform the required manual dexterity.
  • Ability to perform required visual inspection of parts.
  • Ability to perform computer data input to track attendance and time spent on work orders.
  • Ability to utilize precision measuring devices to inspect dimensions accurately within ± .002 and angles ±.
